Personal IC Card
system(hereinafter referred to PIC system) makes user more convenient by
locking/unlocking door and starting engine without using mechanical key or
remote controller. The push switch , attached to the Knob of the MSL,
sends driver's intension for starting. If driver with PIC FOB presses push
switch, SMART KEY ECU searhes FOB with valid ID inside and Once valid FOB
is founded, SMART KEY ECU sends release signal to MSL. Then MSL is
released by operating solenoid in MSL. After checking the change lever
posion is "P", SMART KEY ECU makes engine be able to be started by
transmitting key confirmation information to engine ECM.
The ECM sets DTC 'B1583'
if the parking switch signal is detected. when the starting KNOB is in
"IGN" postion and the vehicle speed exceed 3Km/h.

▶ Fault is
intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or
ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not
cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor
connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,
or damage. Repair or replace as
necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"
procedure.
|

|
▶ Go to "
Inspection/Repair "
procedure.

|
W/Harness Inspection
1. |
Many malfunctions in the electrical system are
caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by
interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or
chemical damage. |
2. |
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness,
poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or
damage. |
3. |
Has a problem been found?

|
▶ Repair as
necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"
procedure.
|

|
▶ Go to
"Signal(Park Position Switch) circuit ground short Inspection"
procedure.

2. |
PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE connector :
Disconnect. |
3. |
Measure resistance between Signal(Park
Position Switch) of PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE harness connector and
chassis ground.
|
4. |
Is "resistance" display near the specified
value?

|
▶ Go to "
Component inspection " procedure.
|

|
▶ Check for
short to battery in Signal(Park Position Switch)
harness. ▶ Repair as necessary and
then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"
procedure.

4. |
Measure voltage between Signal(Park Position
Switch) of PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE harness connector and chassis
ground.
* Check the voltage change of signal line with
operating park position switch.
Specification
: park position switch → below 0V ,
OFF → approx. 12V

5. |
Is "voltage" display near the specified
value?

|
▶ Check
connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion,
contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to
"Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
|

|
▶ Check for
the Park Position Switch or component of SPORT MODE
SWITCH. ▶ Substitute with a
known-good "PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE" and check for proper
operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "PIC
IMMOBILIZER MODULE" and then go to "Verification of Vehicle
Repair" procedure. ▶ Repair as
necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"
procedure.

Verification Of Vehicle
Repair |
After a repair, it is
essential to verifying that the fault has been corrected.
1. |
Connect scan tool and select "Diagnostic
Trouble Codes(DTCs)" mode. |
2. |
Using scantool, Clear
DTC. |
3. |
Operate the vehicle within DTC Enable
conditions in General information. |
4. |
Are any DTCs present ?

|
▶ Go to the
applicable troubleshooting procedure.
|

|
▶ System is
performing to specification at this
time.
