Component Location

General Description
Personal IC Card system(hereinafter referred to PIC system) makes user more convenient by locking/unlocking door and starting engine without using mechanical key or remote controller. The push switch , attached to the Knob of the MSL, sends driver's intension for starting. If driver with PIC FOB presses push switch, SMART KEY ECU searhes FOB with valid ID inside and Once valid FOB is founded, SMART KEY ECU sends release signal to MSL. Then MSL is released by operating solenoid in MSL.
Signal requesting confirmation is used at a time when MSL lock is released.
DTC Description
The ECM sets DTC 'B1582' if the Knob push switch signal lasts for 60 sec, when the starting KNOB is in "OFF" position.

Monitor DTC Status
1.
Connect scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).
2.
Ignition "OFF"
3.
Monitor the "PUSH SWITCH " parameter on the scantool.

Specification : The duration of Push Switch "ON" signal < 60sec.

4.
Is the monitored parameter within specifications?
※ The ECM sets DTC 'PUSH KNOB SWITCH ERROR' if the signal of Knob push switch lasts for 60 sec. when starting KNOB is in "Lock" position.

▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to " Inspection/Repair " procedure.

W/Harness Inspection
1.
Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or damage.
3.
Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Signal circuit battery short Inspection" procedure.

Signal Circuit Battery Short Inspection
1.
Ignition OFF.
2.
PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE, PIC DOOR WARNING SWITCH connector : Connect.
3.
Measure voltage between Signal(IGN PUSH KNOB) terminal of PIC DOOR WARNING SWITCH harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : 1 V below

4.
Is "voltage" display near the specified value?

▶ Go to " Component inspection " procedure.

▶ Check for short to battery in Signal(IGN PUSH KNOB) harness.
▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Component Inspection
Check PIC Door Warning Switch
1.
IG KEY : OFF.
2.
PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE, PIC DOOR WARNING SWITCH connector : Connect.
3.
Measure voltage between Signal(IGN PUSH KNOB) of PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE harness connector and chassis ground.
* Check the voltage change of signal line with operating push switch.

Specification : push switch ON → 12V, OFF → 0V

4.
Is "resistance" display near the specified value?

▶ Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check for the Signal(IGN PUSH KNOB) or component of PIC DOOR WARNING SWITCH.
▶ Substitute with a known-good "PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE" and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "PIC IMMOBILIZER MODULE" and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Verification Of Vehicle Repair
After a repair, it is essential to verifying that the fault has been corrected.
1.
Connect scan tool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTCs)" mode.
2.
Using scantool, Clear DTC.
3.
Operate the vehicle within DTC Enable conditions in General information.
4.
Are any DTCs present ?

▶ Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure.

▶ System is performing to specification at this time.
